Random notes:
Somebody (likely a housekeeping person) got a pound of grass-fed ground beef and 3 cans of orange juice concentrate. Left them in the freezer, darn it.
I still like paper maps. GPS is definitely an advantage on city streets, unless you make a mistake, then it can't keep up with you.
Never lost any more oil. Added 2 qts. in Florida, one more the next day, and has checked fine all the way home. Still going in to the mechanic!
Final odometer reading: 88108. Miles driven in 10 days: 3992. Experience: priceless!
Is it really camping to have a huge RV with a/c, TV and full size satellite dish?
Things I have learned:
- Bring a dirty towel to stand on after you shower
- Leave every fourth day or so open
- April is a great time to travel: nice weather, no crowds
- No reservations needed this time of year, and they tied us to a schedule
- Many great campgrounds are not online
- Don't make anything for lunch that you have to heat up
- Plan to be in camp by 6-7 at the latest
- Don't count on having wood for a campfire
- It takes 1-2 hours to eat and pack up in the morning
- Umbrella tents are the NUTS!!!! Thanks, Jane the Pain
- Call every campground of interest and find out the gate situation, late check-in, shower/water availability
- Don't bring shampoo or lotion pump bottles
- Flip flops are a necessity in camp
- Don't make food for anything more than 7 days
- Have a great husband like I do. Thanks Greg.
We had a blast. Next few trips planned: North Carolina, Florida including St. Augustine and Keys, Nova Scotia and PEI.
